ROUND 3 - INDY ROAD

RACE: MONDAY SEPTEMBER 30

Welcome to Season 7, Round 3

The third round of the Ricmotech MiniMite Sportscar Challenge takes us to historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway for two 35-minute sprint races. If we had a sense of humor, we probably should have done the first race on the road course and the second race on the oval! But no, both races on the road course.

To get clean starts here, drivers need to use practice this week to rehearse running through Turns 1-3 side-by-side. You need to be able to get into and through Turn 1 from the left lane holding the left lane all the way to Turn 3, and same for the right side. LMP3 should NOT plan to make passes entering the chicane - either get it done before or best to set up a nice run to the RIGHT out of the chicane.

Similarly, drivers should spend some time practicing Turn 12 side-by-side for both in-class and mixed class racing. We saw a lot of action and a lot of contact there during the RWC race, but it can be done side-by-side if it has been practiced and the drivers are disciplined in their car placement and control
