Ricmotech Sports Car Series Season 5 Wrap-up

The Sports Car Series completed it's Season 5 on December 4th at none other than Watkins Glen International. What an amazing finale these drivers put on display.

The series introduced the new LMP3 Ligier JS P320 bringing the Sports Car Series into a whole new level of multi-class racing. Round 1 would kick off the Season with Mike Dam from Orion Racing sitting on the pole, however the race would not pan out for Mike as he would finish down the order in 11th. Teammate Robert Hartley would grab the opening win in LMP3 though. Over in GT3 Pro it was newcomer to the series Ken Copelin, in his Mercedes, who would lead at the finish line with Robert Schwenkler and Brennan Houran 10 seconds back respectively. GT3 AM started it's season with excitement with the young driver Leo Dragotta finishing with a dominating win over The Wrong Stuff driver Ian Patience who would finish second with Canadian Chuck Lebano grabbing third to start his season.

As the season progressed the LMP3 class was full of excitement as Mike Dam would capture 4 more poles and two wins on the season to bring home yet another Championship at XMS Racing. Teammate Travis Schwenke would finish in second just 12 points back with Kyle Strycharz from SRT eSport finishing in a strong third in the LMP3 title chase. Returning TCR Champion Eric Violett from D2D would finish 4th on the season and teammate Brandon Whitworth would wrap up in 5th.

In GT4 Pro class the season would find the Rookie at Xtreme Ken Copelin capturing 2 poles and 3 wins and taking the championship with 443 points. D2D Sim Racing's Brennan Houran would bring home 2nd with Justin Rehm who had 4 poles and 4 wins would experience some bad luck and unfortunately missing the finale would cost him a higher finish in class. D2D's David Paton would finish just 10 points back for 4th with Jeff Jacobs 3 points back in 5th representing the SCCA Foundation.

In GT4 AM it was sheer domination out of the youngster Leo Dragotta who would finish the Championship 58 points ahead of 2nd place finisher John Sterling who had a strong season in his own right, finishing with a win and 6 top 5's on the season. Third place would go to The Wrong Stuff's Ian Patience who would finish with 7 top 5's. Canadian Alex Brown from Team Collusion and Russ Rudduck with Flying Tortoise Motorsports would round out the top 5.

It was another exciting Sports Car Season as we saw new drivers enter the series and amazing battles throughout the fields all season long.

The series will return once again on April 29th so I am sure teams will be breaking down those cars over the next couple months in preparation for season 6. We appreciate all of you who participated and hope to see all of you back for another fun season and enjoy the award photos below!
