Ricmotech Sports Car Series Season 4 Wrap-up

The Sports Car Series completed it's Season 4 on April 24th at none other than Sebring International Raceway. What an amazing finale these Drivers put on for their final event as the sun was setting to the West.

The TCR class started off a little stronger this season and some new faces came out to give the TCR a try. There were some exciting events starting with Round 1 where the D2D teammates of Brandon Whitworth and Eric Violett would dominate and finish the event with just a 1 second gap between them and Violett taking the win. It wasn't until Round 3 that we would see a new winner on the season as Brandon Whitworth in his #42 machine would find victory lane at Mount Panorama in dominant fashion over the #89 of Eric Violett. Nick Horvath would grab a strong third with Alex Brown and Marlon Jones rounding out the top 5. John Sterling in his #87 Team Collusion ride would come on strong in the second half of the season picking up a pair of second place finishes at Road America and Brands Hatch. Ultimately, it was Eric Violett in that #89 D2D machine that would bring home the title with 7 wins on the season followed by Brandon Whitworth, John Sterling, Nick Horvath and Scott Brooks.

Over in GT4 PRO class the season started out at Road Atlanta with series veterans Robert Hartley and Mike Dam going side by side for most of the white flag lap with Hartley taking the win by .067 seconds. Hartley's winning streak would never take off this season as veteran driver Travis Schwenke was on a mission to spoil the show by capturing wins in the next four races. It was Chris Thorman who was also running stronger than usual this season finding himself on the heels of the leaders for several Rounds finishing 4th in the championship with 6 top 5's just ahead of Jeff Jacobs who had 4 top 5's on the season. In the end Hartley ended up with a 7th at Rudskogen and a 4th in the finale at Sebring placing him 3rd on the podium for the Championship. It was Travis Schwenke who would come home with the Season 4 GT4 Pro Title with 4 wins and 8 top 5's finishing just 9 points ahead of the hard charging Canadian Mike Dam.

In GT4 AM class the season kicked off with D2D eRacing stealing the show grabbing 1st & 2nd on the podium with drivers Brennan Houran and Bobby Childs. Brad Husty from Midfield Motorsports would round out the Podium from Round 1. It was Round 3 that would bring newcomer to the series Chad Osborn in contention for the win landing a second place finish behind D2D's Brennan Houran. Round 5 at Ruskogen was full of surprises as it was not only a new track to the series, but we also witnessed a strong run out of the #34 car of Chuck Lebano finding himself mixing it up with the leaders in the Pro class and taking the AM class Round 5 victory. Round 7 would bring a first season win for D2D's Bobby Childs with his teammate Brennan Houran finishing 2nd. Team One Racing's Dale Maxwell would see his first of two 4th place finishes with John Casey from Fritosport Racing rounding out the top 5 with his best finish. It was a wild finish for the GT4 AM class as D2D's Bobby Childs brought home a commanding second victory on the season. A battle ran thick for 2nd & 3rd on the podium as Midfield Motorsports Brad Husty battled with John Casey as they would finish on the podium in that order. Chad Osborn from Redline Motorsport would finish 10th in class costing him 2nd in the Championship. Ultimately it was Brennan Houran who took the GT4 AM title with 4 wins and 7 top 5's with Brad Husty finishing 2nd.

It was another exciting Sports Car Season as we saw new drivers enter the series and amazing battles throughout the fields all season long.

The series will return once again on August 21st so I am sure teams will be breaking down those cars over the next couple months in preparation for season 5. We appreciate all of you who participated and hope to see all of you back for another fun season and enjoy the award photos below!
